Richard's Page o' Legal Stuff

The Page o' Legal Stuff:

Being a hilarious rundown of the things you gotta remember!

OK, folks: it's legal time!

Yes, friends, this here's that part of Blackbeard's Castle where we have to lay down a couple of rules, so that next time you log on to us here at the Castle, you'll remember that these rules (such as they are!) are to be obeyed at all costs. This way, nobody sues the site author (that's me), people get to hold onto that which matters the most to them, and everybody logs off happy.

"But Richard," I hear you saying (and you know who you are), "why do you need a Page o' Legal Stuff in the first place?"

Well, let me answer that by telling you a story about The Coca-Cola Company's homepage --- specifically, the legal portion thereof. There was a time when this particular legal page, called "The Fine Print," was, in my personal opinion, the absolute funniest legal homepage I'd ever seen! To a set of similar pages involving its Cherry Coke brand, The Coca-Cola Company's lawyers added another hilariously cool page o' legal stuff, this one dubbed simply "The Law."

But alas! once they began adding in the technical (and BORING! ) words having to do with the legalities of their homepages, Coke's "Fine Print" soon became funny no longer. And that, ol' buddies, was enough to make ol' Richard very sad. (We pause whilst I blow my nose.)

[HONK!]

Herein lies my point, folks: Even a portion of a webpage which states that you can never reproduce, retransmit or use in any other way any material from a specific site without written permission should, at the very least, possess a "fun" side, too. Don't get me wrong here, but basically the idea is: if we're gonna tell you to abide by our rules, there oughta be a fun way to tell you to obey our rules without boring you to death!

Having said that, it is now time to get the standard disclaimer statement out of the way. OUR way, of course. So listen up:

The following, along with related catch-phrases and other elements, are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Electric Pirates Entertainment, Inc. and associated companies; and the unauthorized use of these marks is strictly prohibited:

"Electric Pirates;" "EPE;" "The Most Dangerous Pirate on Earth!;" "Blackwolf the Dragonmaster;" "New York City's Unofficial Wizard;" "Uncle Fergus;" "The Quartet of the Longbeards;" "Blackbeard's Castle;" "PIRATE POWER!;" "The Epic of Babyzellen;" "Tales from Berenicia;" "Old Man Fiddler;" "Dreamlords of the Universe;" "Uncle Fergus' Bagpipers' Internet Companion;" the official signatures of Richard Washington, Blackwolf the Dragonmaster, Blackbeard the Pirate, and other EPE Holdings characters; the Electric Pirates coat of arms; and the Electric Pirates logo and colophon.

Copying, reproducing, or other use of any and all of the images, logotypes and other material featured in this way cool homepage is likewise a no-no. Besides, I don't take too kindly to folks who filch. And anyway, it's all protected under laws of the USA and other countries. So, if filchin's your cup of tea, and you want to probably target moi, I only have three words for you:

DON'T DO IT!

No offense, but I just don't want to see any potential visitors to the Castle busted for filchin'. But anyway, that's our humble little Page o' Legal Stuff for right now. Hope it didn't make you too mad.

Return to Blackbeard's Castle!
